17.1.08 -- Giving Up What Is Freedom
Oh my freaking gosh!!!
Honestly, I knew
ICPU students had it hard with the whole
70% course work and 30% exam marking system thingy but seriously, the last thing I expected was to have absolutely no time for ANYTHING else at all! I mean, being in
Taylor's, I start the day in the very same fashion as every other regular school student does - wakes up at a six-ish hour of the morning, shower, dress, eat breakfast, go to school (college in this case). Also, since
Taylor's is much further than
SMK Seafield is, I have to leave 15 minutes earlier than usual (compared to high school). Then, there's still Muffin to pick before we brace ourselves for the terrible traffic jam at
Taylor's front gate.
*Note of advice to future
Taylorians - BE EARLY!!
Trust me, you do NOT wanna have to miss classes, especially if you're a
SAM or
ICPU student (like Muffin and I);
CAL students shouldn't have to worry too much since their course incorporates 100% exam assessment - lucky.
Anyway, it's been nearly two weeks since I became an official
Taylorian, and despite the unthinkably deadly sum of workload presented to myself and my fellow classmates, I'd so definitely choose college life over high school if I ever had to. On the first day (Tuesday, skip Monday's orientation), it was pretty easy-going. You know the drill - go to class, meet your teachers, find your old friends (if any, surely you'll find SOMEONE in this ultimately small world), play those childish ice-breaking games, and, not forgetting, MAKE NEW FRIENDS! Yay!
Yeah, whatever.
So I met lots of people. Sean (cheer buddy...sorta) and Li Huey (high school classmate) are sharing Economics class with me, so that's good. It's always a little easier when there's somebody you know.
A thought of interest: Seafieldians stick together...
Hey, I used to be the
'Mystery Girl', remember? There are tons of
Seafieldians in
Taylor's, I suppose, because it's such a popular and well-recognized college in comparison with all the other ones. Back to the point, people from high school who never spoke a single word to each other in the past are now chatting away as if they'd been best-friends from the start! Amazing what college does to a person, isn't it? Take that question rhetorically please.
Resuming the first day recollection, it really was funny at how after introductions people would keep asking me the same
'million dollar' question random people have been asking me all my life - are you Malay or Chinese? Yeah, and imagine the shock on some of their faces when they actually thought I was pure Chinese and found out my front name was
'Putri'. And if that wasn't entertaining enough, too bad no one outside my Data Management class will ever see how Mr. Murthi reacted when I raised my hand up during attendence-check!
*Ahem* He thought I was some
"Chinese chick".Well, bottom line is I like it here and where I am in life so far. Sure I'm busy, and sure I'll probably have to deal with three to four hours of sleep each weekday night but hey, college really is the place to branch out and express. The course is nowhere near easy, even a real genius would tell you that. I've given up a lot to be here so while I am (here, I mean), I'll make the best of it. And yeah,
Taylor's...loaded with hotties!
Come and see for yourselves! Bye till then peeps!

'The Web',

The rest is still unwritten...
