Gosh that announcer cracked me up. Anyways, that's where I was just last night; at Actor Studio, Bangsar watching that stand-up comedy show. Yes (before anyone cares to notice), I missed So You Think You Can Dance 2's season finale. Who won by the way? Well, at least I found out eventually.
So anyways, about the show, it was really fun. While waiting outside I encountered a mob of local celebrities. I guess it was to be expected, it being a Friday night and all - people are free, they come to watch. I ain't gonna be naming every single one. I don't really even know most of them THAT well, except for the fact I saw some of them act in local productions and films before. They're common faces, Malaysia ain't got much...yet!
I will tell however that our prime Malaysian artist of all time was there, along with her two-decades-older-than-her husband. If you can't guess who, you're really outdated. And what do I have to say about her? Simple - she's pretty and has a nice voice. Honestly, she does. And I give her credit for it. Heck I've no idea how smart (or un-smart) she is in person (though I do know her English needs work) but my belief is she really HAS done her part in allowing Malaysia to be proud of actually having something - a singer who made it big-time while remaining in the local market!
Back to the show, Harith had guest comedians Jim Murrad (is that how his name's spelt?) and actor/singer Douglas Lim. Both were really funny with their respective jokes and antics. Especially enjoyed Douglas' fusion of Superman and local politician, Anwar Ibrahim (AI).
Sounds like American Idol for some reason...nah!
It's too bad cameras are a big NO-NO when it comes to these things so nope, sorry peeps, no pics to share. Harith is a brilliant comedian by the way, I believe I know that much. Apparently, he's not a bad dancer for his size too. The show is undeniably a worthwhile watch for anyone interested to see what Malaysia's local entertainers are made of. Sure he's no Russell Peters but hey, he's a definite 'funny man'.
Also, the show comped away full-house. A nice way to end the working part of a week.
