On the 19th of September 2008, Mr. G's three Challenge and Change in Society's classes collaborated together on the making a success out of a single day event - the World day of Peace (a.k.a. World Peace Day).
The planning process of course, started several weeks back. And while many were oblivious to the existance of an actual, calender-recorded day for peace in the beginning, many pitched in; highly supportive and excited by the event. Yep, that means me too. Though I can't say I contributed as much as some other people did, in the end, I enjoyed the idea and did my part whole-heartedly on the day itself - hey, I do want World Peace, don't you?
Here are some pictures (Everbody say "Peace!"):
Michelle's paper crane. She showed it to me during OS class that day.
For anyone out there who didn't know, the cranes (paper) are a symbol of peace.
Spirallies~ ^^
Tie-dye shirts were custom made for sales purposes - they sold out too!
Me? I love the shirt I bought, though in the end it was too big for me and I gave it to my bro. Raz was pretty delighted to receive it. He even wore it all Sunday (note: 21st September - actual calender dated World Peace Day, but it's a Sunday so... XP) to show his support.
Ahha, asides the tie-dyes, everyone on campus was encouraged to wear white for the day, and boy was it WHITE!! O_O
A picture together under one of the tents, which belonged to the Moon People (those involved with the Moon Cake Festival celebration) by the way - Mr. G pretty much intruded and claimed it for us, lol. Apparently, it's 'peace at any cost'.
And here are the tie-dyes on sale from that day. We had over a hundred initially I believe, but that was all that was left come Period 5, my shift.
Michelle advertising a pretty tie-dye. She's definitely good at sales.
The projector screen that kept showing the same two clips ALL DAY LONG!!!
Yikes! Considering it's location under the carpark bassement, I don't think many people saw it anyway. Sad.
Ah, the beloved Peace Tree! I liked this thing, many people wrote stuff as one can see. Here, I'll show up my leaf:
Walla!! Yeah, so not original of me but hey, all's fair in the name of PEACE~
And here's Ei-Jean's
El's leaf over on the top (yellow pin), and Sal's near the lower half (red pin)
I said in class the other time that I didn't believe peace was something that would ever be a hundred percent possible. Well, I still think that way, but it doesn't stop me from hoping how wrong that statement could be. Peace peeps, PEACE.
