Revelations about what is called a river...
I blame watching Koizora for this. Hiro said he loves the river because, no matter what, a river never ceases to continue flowing forwards.
I'd like to think we as human beings live out our lives like the river--always moving onward to whatever comes next. Think about it--curving around colossal mountains, bending past tight ridges, gushing over rough waterfalls, swerving through massive valleys, all the while picking up soil-clumps of wisdom through and through and (unavoidably, of course), splashing into a couple of other things along the way. Makes some metaphorical sense, no?
And you know what? A river doesn't end. Instead, it junctions outwards into open water, may it be a lake, sea, or the wide blue ocean...where something bigger and better awaits.
You know, maybe the big lesson we're all supposed to take out of our respective, short-sheepish lives is to keep pushing forwards no matter how hard things get? We all have obstacles that block our paths. We all fall off the edge and get sucked under from time to time. And we all have moments when the currant's just too rough for us to wade on by.
Face it, life ain't smooth sailing by a long shot. But, like the river, I'm going to keep flowing forwards--I'll bend my way around any obstacles, swim back up to the surface when I'm under, and heck if a strong current decides to wash me away I'll just swim back eventually when it mellows and carry on.
I've decided.
