Ladies and gents, I present to you American Idol 2009's Top 13 Finalist!!!
*uproar of applause ensues*
This is, probably by far one of the most talented batch of individuals I've seen in a while on American Idol. Last season, I really wasn't all that interested but this year's has strengthened once again my attraction to the infamous reality television show. Thank goodness!
As we all (already) know, this year's American Idol winner is none other than Kris Allen--the humble, dark horse of the competition.
Okay, that fact aside, to those who've more or less paid some attention to my previous American Idol post (a.k.a. my Adam Lambert rant) then you'd probably already know I had my eyes set on the dramatic, goth-rocker for this year's winner. Adam, who kept on gracing the stage with staggeringly fresh performances and out-of-this-world powerful vocals was just too hard to ignore. And heck, he's kind of good looking too--but so is Kris; alas that's not important~
Moving on to Kris, now I'd be lying if I stuck to my previous opinion of him--which would be, that he wasn't exactly cut out to be the winner. A few more weeks of watching him on the show and it became increasingly evident that this guy was something.
Swearing honesty here, pinning on voice alone, I'd easily say Kris has it better (Adam just has the glam and broader range). I like his tone more than Adam's and it's just smashing and thoroughly touching when he sings a ballad-ish melody with the piano. When it got to the guitar however, phew I kind of didn't feel the same awe-inspiring effect, that is until the dude sang that Kanye West song, Heartless (if memory serves it's purpose XP). That one song awakened me to the possibility that Kris was so in the game. And surprise surprise, the guy won.
Heh! XD
I can't say I'm disapointed though. Knowing the brilliancy Adam enunciated throughout the competition, the guy will come to have a decent career in the industry of which he so loves. And heck he's won over tons of fans by just appearing on the show anyway. And while I still stand by the opinion that Mr. Lambert should have won the title, Kris doesn't put shame to having won it either. Gotta face it, I like the guy (in a different way than I like Adam but yeah, definitely like the guy).
Hah! Besides, did you see his face when they called out his name? Lol, classic.
Somehow something tells me Adam might have seen it coming. Surely someone out there's gotta find it even a little bit intriguing that Kris got to stay in the competition while Alison and Danny got the boot? Dude was even the first to make it into the Top 3 spot. I dunno about anyone else but I have my lingering suspicions on why Kris copped away with the title. Still, I don't mind.
Truth is, they're both idols.
Nice season America, hope for more talent next year!! XD

And now, on a slightly separate page (since we're on the topic of singing, idols and such), I definitely still cannot find words strong enough to describe how unbelievably talented and amazing this young girl is.
It's been about a year (I think) since singing-sensation Charice Pempengco first appeared on the Oprah show. And ladies and gents it looks like she and her mom have been doing just fine since then. The girl's career has seriously blossomed!
So, with words out of the question to rely on, I leave you with a Youtube video of Charice's debut single--that's right, her very own song (though if I have my facts straight it was first heard on singer JoJo's second album):
'Note to God'
