11.7.09 -- The Start Of Something New?
For lack of a better title...yeah. So anyways, as anyone who actually reads my blog can see, I'm obviously very much ALIVE since shipping over to Australia for further tertiary studies (yay me! XP).
It's only been about a week since I boarded that life-altering plane and rode it all the way to the land of kangaroos, koalas and fat-fat wombats; and sure enough life has been challenging. Proof? Well, I have nothing but my words and that of my mom's but setting up the internet and a local mobile line was kinda...confusing? Hey, maybe it's just me and my lack of knowledge when it comes to stuff like that (never used pre-paid stuff before--still not using any XP) and etc.
Of course, while fixing up my needs for communication to the outside world was pretty hard on its own, there was the lack of household items in my Unilodge apartment to deal with once I moved into it. And so, my mom and I have been busy spending practically every single day out shopping around the area, buying the necessities and what-nots; you know, pillows, blankets, pots, pans, mugs, blah blah blah. Hey, gonna needs those to deal with the cold of winter (which isn't anywhere as severe as I'd originally thought it to be--thankfully).
As to the university stuff, well I am officially accepted seeing as I went for the enrolment the other day. Met a couple of people from neighbouring countries (Singapore, Thailand, you catch my drift) and yep (definitely) met a number of Malaysians, though I might actually be the only Malay doing my course. Heck, I could be wrong, haven't exactly met the whole lot of people yet. Anyway, we were pretty much briefed on what we had to do before classes officially start on the 20th July--blah blah, pick major, electives, student ID, 'dot dot dot'. For anyone's info, I chose to major in Cinema Studies. Yep, hoping it'd lead me to a director's chair cause that would be MY FREAKING DREAM COME TRUE!!!
Meh, I'm just putting the bar up high but who knows where my river will bend come the distant future. Wherever it leads, I know it'll be great so long as I keep my head held high and let my spirits soar (I know this sounds corny but I'm just in one of my ranting moods since the lack of internet has been getting to me, lol!).
Ah yes, heard the news of Cheer 2009 (not in detail but at least I know some of the results). Interesting to know history's been made again with yet a new Champion. I'll have to look up Youtube for vids though. To my junior VLCs (whom I hardly know at all, lol), I'm just gonna say good job in keeping Vulcanz strong throughout this years competition.
I really can't think of anything else to add to this right now except for that I'm ridiculously missing a WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE! Guys, hope you're all doing fine back in Malaysia or wherever you are right now. I might be getting quite busy real soon so catch-up time will probably have to wait a while. Also, to anyone who wants to know, thanks to my course structure it looks like I won't be returning to Malaysia for at least a whole year (meaning no returns home till maybe July 2010).
Well, I ain't complaining. Life will be hard on my own but the people are surprisingly friendly and helpful (not that I expected anyone to be mean though). Till next time then, ciao!! XD
PS: Yeah, it turns out the people here don't wear face masks. Swine Flu, heh. It's my suspicion the Malaysian news and media are tragically exaggerating that issue cause people keep staring at me like I'm some alien being whenever I wear a mask outside.
